Me!
Welcome to Outadoors.com! My name is Pierre Vedel. I’m an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, passionate about exploring new places near and far. My journey has taken me to 37 countries (and counting!), giving me a global perspective on the incredible landscapes and natural wonders this world offers. But my love for the wild began much closer to home, setting up tents and roasting marshmallows as a young Cub Scout.
Growing up, I moved around a lot—living in California, Virginia, Alaska, and Florida and spending time in England, France, Spain, Germany, Japan, and China. Each place added a unique chapter to my story and deepened my appreciation for the diverse beauty of the outdoors. My early outdoor adventures began with the Cub Scouts and evolved through the Boy Scouts, where I learned the basics of survival, camping, and self-sufficiency. These experiences shaped my love for nature and ignited a lifelong pursuit of exploring the world around me.
After high school, I decided to take my sense of adventure and discipline to the next level by joining the U.S. Navy. I spent ten years serving, bringing challenges, friendship, and opportunities to see even more of the world. My time in the Navy took me to incredible places, solidified my leadership skills, and reminded me of the importance of balancing work and exploring the outdoors whenever possible.
When I transitioned out of military service, I found myself in a different adventure—the corporate world. From the boardroom to weekend backpacking trips, I tried to keep that explorer’s mindset alive. I realized that no matter what job I held or the city I lived in, my compass always pointed back to nature. I started Outadoors.com — to share my experiences, lessons, and tips on making the most of your time outside.
Through this blog, I blend my background and experiences to provide insights on the best trails, state and national parks, and the essential gear to keep every trip safe and enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned explorer or a newcomer looking for your next adventure, I’m here to help you find your path, embrace the unknown, and discover the beauty of the natural world.
So, pack your gear, find your trail, and hit the road together—adventure is waiting!
I hope you enjoy the site and Thank you,
Pierre
